What language would be easier for me to learn next based on what I can already speak?

Posted on 07. Dec, 2009 by Learn Language Free in General Learning Language Articles

I heard that learning languages similar to the ones you know make it easier to learn. I am adept in the English language, decent in Malay and have limited grasp of Chinese.

I’m thinking of spanish/italian to learn next, what do you reckon? ( Western European languages please)

Spanish is a good choice, real easy for an English speaker to pick up. Italian shouldn’t be too hard either. As an alternative, you could try learning German as it’s related to English.

As another alternative, you could try improving your Malay or Chinese instead of starting something completely new.

if you’re thinking of spanish i’d say go for it, and italian will be easy to understand (most of it), because a lot of words are very similar

Spanish is a beautiful language to learn and it would be easy for you to learn because you already know other languages. If you know Spanish, other languages like Italian are easy to understand. Knowing Spanish and English you can travel anywhere in the world almost and make yourself understand.
